Why does a mineral we file under bone health keep turning up in disease mechanisms that have nothing to do with bone?

I trained as a physician first and completed a PhD in molecular biochemistry and genetics afterward, and for years the two halves of that training disagreed with each other. At the bench, calcium was a second messenger deciding whether a cell divided or died. In the clinic, it was a serum value and a supplement dose. Almost nothing traveled between them.

The Advanced Calcium Research Institute was built to close that distance. Our work centers on AIC (Antiorbital Ionic Calcium), studied for how it affects the way cells handle calcium internally, not for increasing systemic intake. What matters to me is what a clinician can act on. So the framework is monitored with measures you already order, including bone mineral density, CTx, and P1NP. If you are a practitioner weighing calcium signaling in your own practice, the Science section sets out the mechanisms in full. If you would rather put the question to me directly, the consultation page books a private Zoom session.
